You place the tome on the dais. The runes once again glow with the same shadowy light, and the runes on the pages coalesce into a language you
can read.
Due to the impermanent nature of shades, objects being passed down are rare. However, there are some woven things that are claimed to be touched
by Dark Gaia herself. These objects seem to be so solid that they never lose even a slight amount of definition during waning of shades. The known
permanent shadows, as they are called, are "The Rod of Darklight", "The Shrouded Bauble", and a shawl of no particular name.
The Rod of Darklight is a relic passed down by a lineage of shade explorers. It is roughly 2 feet in length and has ornate carvings along the entire
length of the rod. A command can be spoken and it will generate a field of shadow around itself that can help stabalize a shade even during unfocused times. The
explorers would use this to both continue expeditions as the foci waned or to explore areas not yet coated in Dark Gaia's shadow, generating their own field of
shadow to exist within.
The Shrouded Bauble is, as far as shade scholars can determine, a well made decorative trinket. It is slightly smaller than a shade's fist and is shrouded in
a small cloak of darkness. If you concentrate on the bauble, you can see the intricate rings and inner machinations whirring and ticking like that of a clock,
though there is no apparent output or way to affect the internal machinations
The shawl, as is implied is simply a well woven shawl that has been handed down from an ancient master weaver to her daughters. Each would add their own bit of
weave work to its design. The shawl has no outstanding properties other than its durability and the fact that it is handed down through generations of master weaver
shades.
