While most procedures of note in our culture is based on rituals to our Dark Gaia, there are those which are merely ceremonial. Such procedures
are formalities that exist to codify various legal bindings. These procedures serve two purposes. The first is to test those entering or affecting the
binding. These legal bindings are serious, those involved must be tested for their resolve. The second, is to add an event to mark the occasion
and thus give others a venue to observe and learn of the binding. The main ceremonial procedure, is the ceremony of deepening darkness.
For shades who have decided that they wish to combine their skills, knowledge, or experience will perform the ceremony of deepening darkness. Through
this ceremony, two or more shades will perform a series of exhibitions, each one proving what they shall bring to the binding. Though there are variations
the most common procedure is as follows:
Those so bound in this ceremony will be treated as a singular shade in terms of dealings with others. If one shade has some boon or priviledge, it is
extended to all shades in the binding, with a few exceptions. Reversing the binding is a much simpler process, they simply need list grievences to an
observer, who then asks if there is a way to reconcile. If not, he declares the binding void for any parties who no longer wish to be bound.
